We have space for historic cultivars in both the main herbaceous beds as well as in the long-desired tree peony collection between the herbaceous beds and Laurel Ridge trail.
  • In 2011 several missing historic cultivars were donated to us from the original estate of Mr. Upjohn (currently a property of Michigan State University) and several were donated by members of our Peony Advisory Board. We also purchased an initial set of tree peonies developed by European and American breeders before 1950.
  • In 2012 an order of historic herbaceous and tree peonies was placed with the Luoyang Tree and Flower Company as part of a longer-term liaison with sister agencies devoted to peonies in China.
