The Peony Garden is an iconic legacy of Dr. W. E. Upjohn, founder of the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His generous gift of peonies in 1922 was the founding event in the multi-year project that culminated in the Peony Garden opening to the public in 1927.
